Police say a driver is facing murder charges after hitting and killing a man on the southeast side.
Monday night Roxanne Campa, 31, was escorted by officers on her way to jail.
She's facing several charges for murder, driving a stolen vehicle, possession and evading arrest.
It all started out with a traffic stop on Hackberry.
Police say she gave officers fake information and then took off.
Her silver four door car crashed on Hackberry, just north of Fair Avenue.
Investigators say she hit and killed a 49-year-old man walking down the street.
Then she got out of her car and took off again on foot.
Police tracked her down, but the fight wasn't over.
Investigators say she kicked out a back window in a patrol car.
Neighbors told us it all caught them off guard.
"My sister in law had told us that the house was shaking and we tried to go over there to see what's going on and they wouldn't let us in," said Rudy Torres, a neighbor.
Parts of Hackberry were shut down but have since re-opened.
As for the man who died, his name has not been released.
Copper Thieves Target Pop Warner Field
Nov 25, 2013 10:35 PM EDT
By: Robert Price
A historic youth football program long plagued by vandals is hit again.
This time the Southside Little Cowboys say they were the victim of copper thieves.
Leaders made the discovery Sunday morning, more than three-thousand dollars worth of damage that's left them without any power at their field.
While the football season is over for the Little Cowboys, they still use this field as a revenue source during the off season by renting it out to other teams and leagues.
However, they say not having working lights will make that harder to do.

Every year, dozens of young people are killed after drinking and driving, but administrators at Trinity University are hoping a new partnership could prevent their students from becoming a statistic.
It's called the Trinity Tiger Taxi and it's part of a partnership with Yellow Cab.
The program aims to get students home safe, by helping them get a cab through using a pre-paid debit card.
“We're not ignoring that students will drink,” said David Tuttle, who serves as dean of students at Trinity University. “This shows that we care about their health and safety because they can get a safe ride if they have been drinking."
Students can sign up for the card by going on to the university’s website. They don't have to live on campus to be a part of the program. They can call a taxi to take them anywhere.
The Tiger Taxi is only available to Trinity students; no word on whether there are plans to expand to other schools.
The Two-Way Battle on the Border
Nov 25, 2013 08:11 PM EDT
By Michael Valdes
Pop quiz: How much does one million dollars in twenty dollar bills weigh? Roughly.. one hundred pounds. By comparison, one hundred pounds of marijuana is only worth half a million.
A perfect example of why U.S. Customs and Border Protection is fighting more of a two-way battle these days. Protecting the border from Mexican smugglers and protecting Mexico from people smuggling guns and a whole lot of cash. And they have gone high-tech to get it done.

San Antonio's Toyota plant could soon serve as a model for increasing manufacturing in America.
Rep. Pete Gallego toured the plant with his colleague - Rep. Steny Hoyer - who serves as the second ranking Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Hoyer was invited on the tour as part of his 'Making it in America' initiative that encourages companies to open or bring manufacturing jobs in the United States.
Hoyer pointed out that the initiative would not only make the country economically stronger but would also provide financial security to families.
"Making it in America is an agenda that resonates with people of all political ideologies," said Hoyer.
"Because they know that is the central pumping success of America "
Congressmen Hoyer and Gallego also met with local business owners and community leaders during a visit to Texas A&M University San Antonio.

A local group is giving back to those in need this Thanksgiving.
The fourth annual "Thanksgiving in the Barrio" took place Monday, on the city's west side.
The event is hosted by the Cesar Chavez Legacy & Educational Foundation.
Two hundred families received a free turkey and all the trimmings.
Organizers say those who took home the food belong to one of the poorest neighborhoods in San Antonio.
"We're in the inner city of San Antonio which is the poorest community of all San Antonio and we wanted to make sure we had an impact," said Ernest Martinez.
Most families say without the giveaway, they would not have a meal this Thanksgiving.
"I wouldn't have no turkey at all, nothing," said Josie Gonzales Leija. "I'm very grateful for these people."

SAPD Searching for Roof Burglars
Nov 25, 2013 02:40 PM EDT
By Fox S.A. Staff
SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio police have released surveillance images of a group of burglars breaking into a Target store at Loop 1604 & Culebra Road back in September.
Investigators say the burglars apparently broke in through the roof of the store without setting off the alarm.
Officers say the burglars rappelled down into the store, then spent a long period of time placing items near the fire exit. When employees showed up, the burglars walked out the fire exit, setting off the alarm. Meanwhile, the employees believed they had accidentally set off the alarm.
Investigators said the same group is suspected in a similar burglary at a Target store in New Braunfels last week.
It's believed the suspects used a silver or light-colored 4-door truck to get away.
If you have any information on these cases, call San Antonio police at (210)224-STOP. Crime Stoppers will offer up to a $5,000 reward for information which leads to the arrests of the people responsible.

Nov 25, 2013 10:44 AM EDT
By: Fox S.A. Staff
Thanksgiving dinner is usually when you splurge on food and break your diet for the holidays. Jennifer Meachum has some alternatives to that annual process. How about cooking something that is good and good for you!
Click on the video above to see how to make Slow Cooker Sausage Stuffing and Creamy Buttermilk Garlic Mashers!

7 cups stuffing cubes
1 can (14 ounces) reduced-sodium chicken broth
1 medium tart apple, chopped
1/8 cup dried apricots, chopped
2 Tbsp. light tub margarine, melted
tsp. poultry seasoning
tsp. pepper
1) In a large nonstick skillet, cook the sausage, celery, and onion over medium heat until no longer pink: drain. Transfer to a large bowl; stir in the remaining ingredients.
2) Transfer to a 5 qt. slow cooker coated with cooking spray. Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours or until heated through and the apple is tender stirring once.
Makes twelve cup servings:

Traditional Sausage Stuffing contains approximately 300 calories and 20 gm fat.
Creamy Buttermilk Garlic Mashers
2 pounds (6 potatoes) of Yukon Gold potatoes, washed and cubed skins on
3 whole garlic cloves
1 teaspoon salt
cup low fat buttermilk

Holiday Lights Record Set in Australia
Nov 25, 2013 11:26 AM EDT
By Ralph Ellis
(CNN) -- For David Richards, the holiday season is about joy, good cheer and smashing a Guinness World Record.
The lawyer and his family strung more than a half a million bulbs around their house in the Australian capital city of Canberra to reclaim the title for lights on a residential property. In case you're wondering, that's 31 miles of lights.
Richards has been the champ before. He set the world record in 2011 with 331,038 lights, but decided not to do it again because the display took months of effort.
In 2012, the Gay family in Lagrangeville, New York, snatched away the title with a display of 346,283 lights.
Richard rose to the challenge. He not only wanted to take back the record, he wanted to "smash it" so it would stand for a long time.
This time, the number was 502,165 bulbs.
Guinness didn't count each and every bulb. The record was authenticated with sales receipts and by counting LED bulbs spaced among the half million lights, Richards said.
The family takes donations from thousands of people who jam the neighborhood to view the lights. Two years ago, they raised $78,000 for SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) and Kids ACT.
That money helped hire two new counselors for families who have lost a child to SIDS. Richards hopes to earn $100,000 this year.
"That's our motivation," he said.
Richards and his wife, Janean, lost a child to SIDS a decade ago, he said. They have three children, ages 13 to 6.
Richards started the project in October and puts in hours before and after work and on weekends.
"I got the last bulb up last night just before Guinness arrived," he said Monday.
"MOST CHRISTMAS LIGHTS ON A HOUSE - OVER HALF A MILLION!" blared the headline on the Guinness website after it verified the feat.
The Richards' house is the former Japanese embassy and has a wide driveway circling in front, he said. Richards built a canopy over the driveway and overlaid it with the lights.
"It's like walking through a tunnel of lights with synchronized music," he said.
The family's monthly electric bill is expected to swell by $2,500, with the local electric company handling the cost by using renewable energy.
Richards wouldn't say how much he's spent on lights, just that it's less than the event brings in for charity.
"Even my wife doesn't know," he said, "and if you ask her she'll say she doesn't want to know."
