5 Reasons Why Miami is the Best Place to Live
Thinking about moving to Miami? Renowned for sunny days, beautiful beaches and ritzy restaurants, Miami is a fun-filled city for people of all ages, a place to quietly spend your retirement or energetically get started after college. If you’re still on the fence about where to move, consider Miami’s many amenities, from lifestyle to weather to more serious factors such as education and healthcare.
Leisurely Living
According to the Miami New Times, there are many reasons to love living in Miami. Even if you are not from the city, its inhabitants will treat you as their own, with no "Miamians versus newbies" obstacles to overcome. Among Miami’s claims to fame are its legalization of topless sunbathing, the fact that citizens regularly sleep past noon, “Miami time” gives you an hour of leeway with social engagements, ligers can be found within city limits and, perhaps, best of all dressing for the cold means wearing a hoodie with your flip-flops.

Education Excitement
Whether you already have children or are planning to start a family in the near future, you probably care a lot about the Miami Education System. Luckily, the country’s fourth-largest school district has an excellent track record. According to the Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ official website, the school system covers more than 2,000 square miles and boasts 392 schools, 345,000 students and over 40,000 employees. Impressively, even with so much ground to cover, the school won the Broad Prize for Urban Education in 2012, according to the Huffington Post.
Convertible Country
If you love the feel of the wind in your hair, there’s no better place to live than Miami. With consistently beautiful weather, it offers the convertible lover endless opportunities to hit the open road. Still in the planning stages and haven’t bought the car yet? No problem: Check out Miami used cars through DriveTime, a dealership that helps people whose credit history is less than shiny own the vehicle of their dreams.

Helpful Healthcare
While not as fun but more important than convertible weather is healthcare, and fortunately Miami doesn't lack in this resource. With seven reputable hospitals and 11 healthcare organizations that participate in Miami Healthcare, the city boasts a range of medical services. This includes an international airport within reach and plenty of cheerful, sunny accommodations for visitors and family members, as well as the MiamiHealthCare.org site where you can access information for specific hospitals. Veterans can rest assured too since the VA has an extensive healthcare system in Miami.
Restaurant R&R
Whether you’re a foodie or just enjoy eating, Miami’s dining scene has you covered. According to Eater, Miami has almost 40 “essential restaurants,” which includes a variety of cuisines, neighborhoods, aesthetics and price ranges. Consider, for instance, flashy Bourbon Steak, a modern steakhouse with a gentleman’s club charm. Or the fancy J&G Grill, located in the gorgeously appointed dining room of St. Regis Bal Harbour. These are located right alongside cheap-but-to-die-for restaurants like El Mago de las Frita, a hole in the wall with Miami’s best fritas—beef sliders made with fried shoestring potatoes.
