Rugged Outdoor Adventures for RVers

If you have an RV, you have definitely found the best way to take a vacation. You can go away just to relax without having to worry about booking hotels and you don’t have to leave the pets at home. You can go be “outdoorsy” without having to be in a sleeping bag in a tent. You have a home away from home and you can get back to nature in the best, most comfortable way.

You may have your favorite places when you go camping or hunting or just get outdoors, but maybe it's time to consider some new RV destinations? If so, then read on for the take on four of the best outdoorsy states for RV owners in the United States.

Utah

If you are looking for diversity in outdoor activities and places to go, check out Utah. Depending on which of the 2,000 campsites that you choose, you can camp, ride horseback, fish, or go boating. Picnic tables, showers, restrooms, barbeque grills, picnic tables, and utility hookups are available in most of the parks. Search "Utah Parks" to find the best. Utah provides a variety of hunting experiences. Deer, elk, black bears, cougars, or waterfowl hunting is available, depending on the area and time of year. Fishing is a big draw for Utah, as well; you can fish for walleye, tiger muskie, bass and more. All in all, Utah is a great outdoorsy place.

California

Up and down the central coast, from northern Los Angeles to southern San Francisco, you will find recreational activities such as kayaking, hiking, biking, horseback riding, and camping. At Yosemite National Park, for example, you can visit and camp in individual campsites. Thirty minutes after entering the park, you will come to the Yosemite Pines RV Resort with shaded or open sites. You can take advantage of picnic tables, fire rings, bathrooms, cable hookups, and more. There are lakes for fishing; hiking is necessary to get to most of them.

Iowa

If you want to do some serious fishing or hunting, Iowa is the place for you. Go to Gull Point if you want to fish for bass, walleye, and bluegill. You can hunt deer, turkeys, and game birds; make sure you get your hunting certificate first, as it is illegal to hunt without a certificate in Iowa. Hiking, kayaking, and shooting are available in some state parks, as well. Research the adventure you would most like to have in Iowa and there will be one available to you, guaranteed.

Colorado

Most people think of skiing when they think of Colorado, but there’s much more to do there if you’re an RV traveler. Hunt deer or elk, or go fly fishing in numerous lakes, reservoirs, ponds, rivers and streams. You can also go rafting or kayaking. If you prefer land-based activities, you can find horseback riding, as well. RV parks in Colorado have the reputation of being comfortable and friendly.

Wherever you decide to go with your RV, research the area on the internet thoroughly ahead of time; you can find a lot of good rugged spots to ensure that you make the most of your RV time.
