Buffalo Schools
Buffalo is promoted as a center for learning and has a large number of schools. The city itself has dozens of public schools with a healthy student to teacher ratio of 13.5:1. More than a quarter of the teachers in these schools have a Masters degree and are well equipped to take on the tens of thousands of students that study in these schools.
Many of Buffalo's schools use a system called the magnet system. This is a system wherein the schools offer courses in special interest like bilingual studies, science, Native American studies. Some of the technical schools in the city include the Buffalo Elementary School of Technology, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Multicultural Institute, the International School, Dr. Charles R. Drew Science Magnet School, Build Academy, Leonardo da Vinci High School and the Bennett Park Montessori. There is also the Buffalo Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts and the Riverside Institute of Technology.
With such success, Buffalo has put in about $1 billion towards city school rebuilding.
The city also has 4 state universities that include the University at Buffalo, Buffalo State College, Erie Community College and Empire State College.
