Jacksonville City, Florida is the County seat for the Duval County and has a very efficient government to run the city at the local, state and federal levels. There are various state and federal government offices set up in Jacksonville. The city has a mayor council form of city government with effective law enforcement agencies maintained by Jacksonville PD and Duval County Sheriff's office.

Jacksonville is also the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida with a Federal Courthouse and it is also in the fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida including Duval, Clay and Nassau counties in addition to county court for handling civil cases involving small claims, violations of civil and municipal ordinances and traffic tickets. The city has a strong law enforcing agency that has kept the crime to its lowest level in Jacksonville.
