According to the Koppen classification, Baltimore lies in the humid sub tropical climate zone. The hottest month of the year is July when the temperatures are at an average of 81.7 degree Fahrenheit. This is also the time of the year when the humidity is extremely high in the city. Baltimore has also seen highs of 107 degrees Fahrenheit in the month of July. The coldest month of the year is January when the temperatures are at an average of 36.8 degrees Fahrenheit.
There are sub tropical air masses that can influence the temperature to a large extent as can the arctic fronts that can cause the night time temperatures to fall quite significantly. These atmospheric currents can caused the temperature to drop to as low as -7 degrees Fahrenheit. The outlying and inland parts of the city are relatively cooler than the main city and the coastal areas.
